Messaging apps

Text it from the app already on your phone

During setup you pick one app: iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal or Slack. Grantkeeper answers your approved account there and nobody else.

Text it like this

Fictional example.

You: (photo of a handwritten volunteer sign-up sheet) Can you type this up?
Grantkeeper: Typed up 18 names with phone numbers and the shift each picked. Two numbers are hard to read, rows 6 and 11. Saved as a spreadsheet in your files.

The five apps

On an iPhone, most people pick iMessage. It runs through Photon, a service that connects assistants to iMessage, in your own Photon account. On Android or a mixed team, WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal work the same way, each with an account set up for Grantkeeper. If your staff already lives in Slack, Grantkeeper can be an app in your workspace instead.

Each Grantkeeper uses one app. Pick the one you check most often, because that is also where reminders and weekly checks arrive.

What you can send

Plain questions, of course, and also photos and screenshots: receipts, sign-in sheets, a pantry shelf, a page from a grant portal. Documents work too, such as an award letter PDF or a Word report. Dictating with your phone’s microphone button works well when you are on the move. For large or very private files, add them on your private page instead.

Text /home for your private page, /pause to stop it answering, /resume to turn it back on and /help for the list.

Who can reach it

Only the account approved during setup. Messages from anyone else are ignored without a reply, and Grantkeeper is not added to group chats. It texts first only when you set a reminder or a weekly check with Schedules on.

Messaging apps keep their own copies of messages, so keep card numbers, Social Security numbers and health details out of chat. With WhatsApp, the account’s main phone needs to open WhatsApp every 14 days to keep linked devices connected.

Your private page, from the chat

Text /home and Grantkeeper sends a link to your private page, which works for 30 minutes. That is where your files are, where you save logins and keys in Settings, where you connect tools such as TickTick or your calendar, and where you can read your chat history, usage and billing. Anything you add there, like a spec PDF or a donor export, is ready for Grantkeeper to read.

Not sure which app to pick? Use the one your leadership team already answers fastest. We can move Grantkeeper to another app later.
